“People change not by making themselves into something or someone, which they are not, but by becoming more fully themselves.” — Fritz Perls

My experience in mind-body therapy and naturopathic medicine distinguishes my healing work.

I have over thirty years of experience as an integrative healthcare practitioner. I studied naturopathic medicine and graduated from Bastyr University in 1985. I went on to become a Physician Assistant and graduated from the Medex Program at the University of Washington in 1988. My focus was on family and women’s health, in both traditional and integrative settings.

My interest in integrative medicine began with my search for answers to health challenges that I encountered early in life.

This led me to The Haven Institute in British Columbia. This was my introduction to the significant impact that is possible by including the body, along with eastern and western healing traditions working with the body-mind-spirit connection. I had so much more energy available to me after my first workshop that I became very curious and continued my studies there for the next 10 years. I became a faculty member, and have taught the very workshop that was so transformational for me. It continues to be a joy for me to teach as I continue to grow and witness others as they experience their own journey of growth and transformation.

A unifying thread that runs through my years of study and practice is an appreciation for the interconnectedness of living systems.

How my healing work brought me to my counseling practice today.

As a naturopath, I developed a keen appreciation and understanding of the mind-body connection. I observed the relationship between patients' symptoms and their personal stories and underlying traumas, which shaped their lives. I became interested in addressing the issues that may be causing the illness rather than treating the resulting symptoms. This inspired me to pursue a career in counseling.
